Schools in Granada and Alicante host informative talks on IFMIF-DONES

Schools in Granada and Alicante have recently hosted two informative talks on IFMIF-DONES and fusion energy.

On 22 May, the 4th ESO students of the Virgen de Gracia School in Granada attended a talk by Inmaculada Molina about her professional career and work within IFMIF-DONES. This conference took place as part of the school’s orientation days.

For its part, the Miguel Hernández Secondary School in Alicante hosted on 20 May a scientific dissemination activity aimed at 4th ESO and 1st Baccalaureate students by Claudio Torregrosa, a former student of the school and currently head of the Security Engineering section of IFMIF-DONES.

During his talk, entitled ‘Particle Accelerators, Fundamental Physics, and Nuclear Fusion,’ Torregrosa discussed Nuclear Fusion as a source of inexhaustible energy, what it is, where we are on the scientific roadmap to achieve it, and the challenges associated with it. He also discussed the fundamental role of the IFMIF-DONES accelerator in Granada in achieving it.

Finally, students were encouraged to pursue scientific and technological careers to participate in this exciting world.
