Kick-off of the E4XTREM project for the development of key technologies in nuclear fusion
Posted on |

The Kick-off Meeting of the E4XTREM project, a pioneering initiative in the study and validation of regenerative envelope technologies for magnetic fusion reactors, was held on 12 March. This ambitious project brings together leading companies and research centres in the sector: Esteyco, AVS, EAI, CIEMAT, Tekniker and esDONES.
E4XTREM faces high-impact challenges in nuclear fusion, including the construction of a pilot facility (FASTER) to house different prototypes, the development of an irradiation module for IFMIF-DONES, and the creation of a simplified prototype of a BB/TBM type regenerator system or irradiation module. These innovations will be key to progress in the so-called ‘tritium technologies’, which are fundamental on the road to fusion energy.
With this initiative, Spain reinforces its role as a leader in the development of magnetic fusion reactors, one of the major scientific and technological challenges for the energy of the future.
