The international IFMIF-DONES team has begun carrying out its activities at the DONES Hub, a building located at the main site of the scientific infrastructure in Escúzar (Granada).

This move marks a new milestone in the project’s evolution. Over the past few years, IFMIF-DONES activities have been carried out from the UGR-DONES building, located opposite the permanent facilities and serving as a temporary headquarters while construction works progressed and the new infrastructures were brought into operation.

With the opening of the DONES Hub, the complex now features 100 fully equipped workstations to accommodate IFMIF-DONES personnel, fostering the integration of international teams and the coordinated development of the project’s different areas.

The entry into operation of this building represents a decisive step in the establishment of IFMIF-DONES at its permanent location. Designed to support management, engineering, coordination and future operational activities, the DONES Hub becomes the new central hub of a scientific infrastructure that is strategic for Europe and essential for the advancement of fusion energy.

This new stage reinforces IFMIF-DONES’ commitment to the development of a unique international facility, destined to play an essential role in the future deployment of fusion energy as a safe, sustainable and virtually inexhaustible source of energy.
