(2024-2029) Industrial validation of Breeding Blankets technologies

Strategic objective: Research, design, study and testing of components subjected to extreme environments for industrial validation of Breeding Blankets technologies associated to the development of magnetic fusion reactors

Foreseen activities:

  • Irradiation Module Design for IFMIF-DONES: Advances in tritium production, extraction, and barrier performance under fusion-like conditions, studies liquid metal corrosion under irradiation, and enables integrated validation of breeder material, cooling, and extraction systems.
  • Prototype Test Module for FASTER: Tests functional materials, barriers, and coatings under extreme conditions, supports integration of key fusion components, and evaluates diagnostics, instrumentation, and coolant effects in fusion environments.
