IFMIF-DONES, at the ISPIM 2026 Innovation Conference

Our Head of the Project Management Office (PMO), Inma Molina, participated today in a roundtable discussion at the ISPIM 2026 Innovation Conference titled “Building Strong Innovation Ecosystems.” The session, moderated by Fátima Carmona (OnTech Innovation), also featured Lourdes Núñez-Müller (PTS Foundation), Nazareth García (AI Granada Foundation), and Antonio Novo (European Cluster Alliance).

The discussion focused on the key elements that enable innovation ecosystems to thrive: strong interconnections between industry, research organizations, clusters, startups, public institutions, and investors, all working towards shared goals.

One of the central themes was the power of collaboration. Successful cases consistently show that the most impactful innovations emerge when diverse stakeholders combine knowledge, resources, and perspectives to tackle complex challenges together. “Collaboration is not an outcome of the ecosystem; it is the mechanism that makes the ecosystem work”, Molina emphasised.

The debate also addressed the strategic role of large-scale scientific and technological infrastructures as catalysts for innovation. By attracting companies, skilled talent, and investment, these infrastructures create environments where cutting-edge research and industrial applications can develop in parallel—accelerating knowledge transfer and generating opportunities to turn ideas into real impact.
