‘Estela’ wins the Carmen Award for Best Animated Short Film

The Andalusian Film Academy has awarded the Carmen Award for Best Animated Short Film to ‘Estela’, produced by Rokyn Animation and Grupo ADM. Manuel Sicilia directed and wrote the script.
During the award ceremony, Sicilia thanked IFMIF-DONES for supporting this exciting story of a curious and determined little girl who wants to travel into space.

‘Estela’ has also counted on the collaboration of the University of Granada, Diputación de Granada, Ayuntamiento de Granada, Ayuntamiento de Escúzar, Cámara Comercio Granada and CanalSur Radio y Televisión.

‘We are delighted that the public is receiving Estela well and that it is winning important awards such as the Carmen Award for Best Animated Short Film. We have always tried to explore new ways to discuss our projects and science. In this sense, we firmly believe that the arts in general, and cinema in particular, are tools of expression that can help us to reach everyone. With Estela, in addition to talking about Science, we believe that we have managed to create an inspiring and exciting work which draws the attention of those girls who want to change the world so that they find in Science a way to do so, and to pay tribute to those parents who make such an effort for them”, said Ángel Ibarra, director of the IFMIF-DONES Spain Consortium after winning the Carmen Award.

‘Estela’ won over the audience that attended its preview, held on 8th November at the Science Park in Granada. The first screening of the animated short, produced by Rokyn Animation and ADM, received a prolonged ovation and a lot of emotion.

‘Estela’ tells the story of a curious and determined girl who has had a goal since childhood: to travel into space. Her life will parallel that of an important scientific project that will change her life and get her there, where no one has ever gone before.
