Carlos Alejaldre, Director of CIEMAT, and Ángel Ibarra, Technical Director of IFMIF-DONES, participated in the scientific event
The National Scientific and Technical Research Council of Argentina (CONICET) and the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) of Argentina celebrated last May 31 and June 1 the Controlled Nuclear Fusion Conference. This international scientific community gathering addressed nuclear fusion challenges, fusion materials, technology, and applications of this source of energy.
Given the strategic importance of IFMIF-DONES in the race towards fusion, organisers CONICET and CNEA invited Ángel Ibarra, Head of the Fusion Technologies Division at CIEMAT and Technical Director of IFMIF-DONES to participate in the event. The speaker provided an overview of the status of this large scientific infrastructure and the challenges for its construction and participated in a discussion panel about fusion materials, along with representatives of the University of Alicante and of Instituto de Fusión Nuclear (IFN-GV) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
The Director of CIEMAT, Carlos Alejaldre, also participated in the Controlled Nuclear Fusion Conference in the debate on challenges of nuclear fusion on the first day of the conference.
