Technical training and talent acquisition are two of the main challenges facing industry today. In this context, IFMIF-DONES took part in the conference “Vocational Training and Employment: Meeting the Needs of the Industrial Sector”, organised by the Granada Chamber of Commerce to examine the skills required by the industrial sector and the role of vocational education and training (VET) in preparing the professionals of the future.
During the working session, Patricia Martín, Head of Operation and Maintenance at IFMIF-DONES, shared the facility’s experience and future technical staffing needs. Her contribution highlighted the strategic importance of vocational training in ensuring the availability of qualified professionals capable of meeting the demands of major scientific and industrial projects in the coming years.
The development of highly complex scientific infrastructures requires specialised technical skills and close alignment between training programmes and the sector’s actual needs. Collaboration between educational institutions and businesses is therefore essential to help students access new professional opportunities and anticipate future skills requirements.
