IFMIF-DONES staff visited the Andasol 3 solar thermal power plant on 5 November. The facility, managed and operated by Marquesado Solar, hosted the visit to provide insight into the operation of thermal oil and molten salt circuits used in this type of power plant, including aspects related to operation, maintenance, and associated safety protocols.

During the visit, attendees learned about procedures and risk-mitigation measures related to the use of thermal fluids, which operate at temperatures of up to 400°C. The objective of this technical visit was to generate synergies and draw on the experience of Andasol 3 to optimise the design and management of the hydraulic circuits associated with the Lithium system in the IFMIF-DONES project.
