The Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation awards us its Medal of Honour

The plenary session of the Board of Trustees of the Rodríguez-Acosta Andalusian Public Foundation has unanimously agreed to award the Institution’s Medal of Honor for the year 2024 to the IFMIF DONES España Consortium, ‘due to its outstanding and valuable scientific work, as well as the national and international projection of the activity it is carrying out, which has already been praised and recognized and which is evident both in terms of economic and social impact within our province and at scientific and research level, meaning that Granada is at the forefront of the world in terms of scientific projects.
With this new edition of the Medal of Honor, the Fundación Pública Andaluza Rodríguez-Acosta recovers an important activity which was a must for the city’s cultural life.
The history of the Foundation’s Medal of Honour dates back to 1967. Since then, the Board of Trustees of the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation has awarded this prize to different personalities, among them: Manuel de Falla (Music), Antonio Gallego y Burín (Art History), Federico Mayor Zaragoza (Research), José Guerrero (Plastic Arts), Francisco Ayala (Literature), Ramón Areces (Patronage), Enrique Morente Cotelo (Flamenco), Antonio Gallego Morell (Literature), Miguel Ríos (Music), José Martín Recuerdo (Theatre), Pablo Heras-Casado (Music), Estrella Morente (Music), Blanca Li (Dance and Performing Arts), International Festival of Music and Dance (Music), University of Granada (Teaching, Education and Science), Consorcio Parque de las Ciencias (Scientific Dissemination), Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (CSIC) and Fundación Cruzcampo (Patronage).
The Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation was created in 1941 by testamentary bequest of the painter José María Rodríguez-Acosta. It is based in Granada, in the carmen built by its founder between 1916 and 1930, next to Torres Bermejas and close to the Alhambra and Generalife Monumental Complex. Among its objectives are the promotion and dissemination of culture. Since January 2019 it has been an Andalusian Public Foundation, attached to the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Regional Government of Andalusia.
