A group of students from the Master’s Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention (ORP) of the University of Granada visited the IFMIF-DONES project facilities to learn first-hand about the application of occupational safety in a high-level scientific research environment.
During the visit, the students received a detailed presentation on the IFMIF-DONES project, a key infrastructure for developing materials for future nuclear fusion reactors. The accelerator staff and the Master’s lecturer who accompanied them on the visit explained the importance of risk prevention in such a complex environment, where technological, operational, and regulatory challenges are combined. The attendees had the opportunity to tour the prototypes installed in the UGR-DONES Research Centre and learn about the safety measures implemented to prevent occupational accidents.
This visit is part of the collaboration strategy between the University of Granada and the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium, promoting the training of future professionals in different specialities, including occupational health and safety in highly specialised sectors.
Those responsible for the activity highlighted the importance of bringing students closer to real working environments, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge in cutting-edge contexts, and reinforcing their training in occupational risk prevention.
