Signed the documents for Spain’s first two contributions to the DONES programme

The Quinta Alegre Palace, the institutional headquarters of the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium in Granada, has been the setting for a key event for the DONES Programme: the signing of the first two Procurement Arrangements (PAs), the documents that formalise the specifications of Spain’s initial contributions to the DONES Programme.
The agreements were signed by Ángel Ibarra, Director of IFMIF-DONES España, and Philippe Cara, DONES Programme Manager, in a ceremony that underscores Spain’s strong commitment to advancing fusion energy.
These initial PAs cover Spain’s participation in key accelerator systems: the MEBT (Medium Energy Beam Transport) and the HEBT (High Energy Beam Transport), essential components for transporting and maintaining the quality of the particle beam within the accelerator.
This signing represents a decisive step in the implementation of the DONES Programme, consolidating Spain’s role as a strategic partner in building this unique scientific infrastructure. With this achievement, the execution phase of the first accelerator elements begins, paving the way for experiments that will support the development of future fusion energy.
