The San Cecilio University Clinical Hospital and the IFMIF-DONES Spain Consortium, responsible for the particle accelerator currently under construction in Escúzar (Granada), have signed a general protocol of action to develop lines of collaboration in areas of shared interest related to scientific and technological innovation, healthcare, engineering, and knowledge transfer.
The document, signed by the representatives of both institutions, defines a working framework aimed at facilitating the exchange of knowledge and the potential implementation of joint initiatives, depending on shared interest and resource availability.
The areas covered include radiation applied to medicine, radiological protection, dosimetry, technological innovation in healthcare environments, the development of digital tools, infrastructure improvement, research in patient safety and treatment personalization, as well as specialized training and scientific outreach.
This framework makes it possible to establish a collaborative space between the healthcare sector and a developing scientific and technical infrastructure, with the aim of promoting interdisciplinary work among professionals from different fields such as medicine, engineering, physics, and applied research.
