Professor Nishimura visits the works of the first buildings of IFMIF-DONES, in Escuzar

 

Professor Arata Nishimura, Emeritus Professor of the National Institute for Fusion Science and the Graduate University of Advances Sciences, Japan, visited on February 6th the works of the first buildings of IFMIF-DONES, which are being developed within the framework of the DONES-PRIME Programme of CIEMAT and the Ministry of Science and Innovation. Professor Nishimura also saw in situ the works for the construction of the UGR-DONES Research Centre, which is being carried out by the University of Granada, next to the IFMIF-DONES site. The professor visited the works accompanied by Moisés Weber, deputy director of the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium.

Afterwards, Professor Nishimura was received at the Escúzar Town Hall by the mayor, Antonio Arrabal Saldaña, who showed him the change that the implementation of the project is bringing to the region and gave him signs of the important support that is being offered by the local administration to its progress.

IFMIF-DONES and CIEMAT

The IFMIF-DONES project is an initiative of the National Fusion Laboratory of the Energy, Environmental and Technological Research Centre (CIEMAT), which is currently promoted by the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium.

CIEMAT is the Public Research Organisation attached to the Ministry of Science and Innovation that has led the design of this facility from the outset and is currently financing the construction of the first buildings and laboratories in Escúzar (Granada).

The IFMIF-DONES España Consortium is a research entity shared equally between the General State Administration and the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.
