Quinta Alegre Palace, headquarters of the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium

The Granada City Council has ceded a space on the first floor of the Quinta Alegre Palace as the headquarters of the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium. The announcement of the cession was made on 10 June by the Mayoress, Marifrán Carazo, during the first meeting of the IFMIF-DONES Local Forum, held in the municipal building in the Cervantes neighbourhood.

The mayor stated that the future official office of the Consortium “will be the reference space in which to receive representatives from other countries and institutions”. “With this measure, the commitment and unconditional support of the Granada City Council to the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium is embodied,” said Carazo. “This new institutional headquarters in an emblematic building of the capital means a before and after for our city while underlining and strengthening the support of the current government team to this great project.

Regarding the previous space—located in the old CajaGranada cultural centre on the Acera del Casino—which the City Council ceded as the project’s provisional headquarters, the mayoress recalled that “it was the Consortium itself that told us of its preference for a more unique location and asked us to give them another space.”

Angel Ibarra, director of the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium, expressed the same opinion, considering it “essential that the headquarters of the organisation be located in a place with adequate visibility, in a space that conveys an excellent image both of the organisation as an institution and of the city itself in which it will be located, given that many visitors and national and international authorities will be receiving it”.

After adding to the needs of the future headquarters of the project “adequate access to allow easy mobility of staff between Granada and Escúzar”, Ibarra thanked the City Council “for having decided to give us this office in the Quinta Alegre Palace where today the first meeting of the IFMIF-DONES Local Forum is being held, a space that covers all the current needs of the Consortium in an outstanding way”.

The IFMIF-DONES Local Forum, whose first meeting was held at the Quinta Alegre Palace, aims to inform and promote effectively the coordinated and joint work of all institutions and local agents in order to maximize the positive impact that IFMIF-DONES will have in the province of Granada.

To this end, its activity is to serve as a meeting point for all the institutions and social agents that make up it, to inform about the most relevant aspects of the project’s state so that decision-making can be effective and coordinated, and to become a forum in which to make specific proposals for projects that can be strengthened with the joint action of all its members.

At present, it is made up of the Town Councils of Granada and Escúzar, the Provincial Council of Granada, the Government Subdelegation in Granada, the Government Delegation of the Andalusian Regional Government in Granada, the UGR, the Chamber of Commerce of Granada, the Confederation of Businessmen of Granada and the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium, as well as political representatives.
