IFMIF-DONES welcomes a visit from the Institute of Plasma Physics of China (ASIPP)

IFMIF-DONES continues to strengthen its international dimension with the visit, on 12 June, of a distinguished delegation from the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP), one of the world’s leading centres in fusion research.
The Chinese delegation was headed by its Director General, Yuntao Song, accompanied by Shaohua Dong, Senior Advisor to the Directorate; Shanliang Zheng, Head of the Fusion Blanket and Safety Research Center; Lizhen Liang, Director of the Neutral Beam Injection Division; Yuping Xu, Deputy Director of the Fusion Reactor Materials and Components Division; and Yao Yang, Deputy Director of the General Administration Office.
Representing IFMIF-DONES were Moisés Weber, Director of the IFMIF-DONES Spain Consortium; Philippe Cara, DONES Programme Manager; Iván Podadera, Technical Director; and José Aguilar, Head of the Executive Office.
The visit began with a series of presentations in which ASIPP showcased its main projects and initiatives in the field of fusion, highlighting China’s role in the global development of this strategic technology. In turn, the IFMIF-DONES team presented the current status of the project, underlining its unique importance for the validation of materials intended for future fusion reactors.
Following this technical exchange, the delegation toured the facilities in Escúzar, where they were able to see first-hand the progress of the infrastructure and learn about some of the prototypes currently under development, demonstrating the tangible advancement of the DONES programme.
