IFMIF-DONES Takes Part in the Summer Courses of the Menéndez Pelayo International University

Moisés Weber, Deputy Director of the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium, took part today in the summer course “Transforming Energy: Modular/Advanced Reactors and the Path Toward Nuclear Fusion”, held at the Menéndez Pelayo International University and promoted by the ENSA Chair of Advanced Technologies.
The current global situation has accelerated the search for clean and sustainable energy solutions, free of CO₂, to replace dependence on traditional sources. In this context, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and nuclear fusion are emerging as two of the most promising technologies for the future of energy.
This summer course served as a meeting point between industry experts and young academic talents to discuss the progress, challenges, and prospects of these technologies. Key topics included the evolution of SMR designs, innovations in materials and their integration into the energy landscape, as well as the latest advances in nuclear fusion research and its commercial viability.
