IFMIF-DONES participated in the Swedish Big Science Forum 2026, held on 11–12 March 2026 in Lund (Sweden). The forum is one of the main meeting points for the Swedish ecosystem of large-scale scientific infrastructures, Big Science industry, and fusion energy.
The project was represented by José Aguilar Medina, Head of the Executive Office at IFMIF-DONES, and Pablo Lista, from the CDTI ILO Office in Granada for IFMIF-DONES. Their participation reinforced institutional coordination and strengthened links with industry in a high-level international environment.
Within the framework of the forum, Aguilar delivered the session “DONES: from construction start to procurement needs,” which addressed the key phase currently being reached by the project following its transition into the construction stage. The presentation focused on the evolution of IFMIF-DONES towards the identification and planning of procurement and supply requirements for critical components and infrastructures essential to the project’s progress.
The session attracted significant interest among participants, including companies and Swedish institutions connected to the Big Science and fusion energy sectors, leading to a highly positive exchange around the industrial opportunities associated with IFMIF-DONES.
In addition, the event hosted two specific workshops aimed at identifying industrial and technological solutions for two key project challenges:
Challenge 1: related to the SRF LINAC
Challenge 2: related to the Injector
These workshops enabled direct technical dialogue between IFMIF-DONES, industry, and participating institutions, with the aim of exploring possible approaches and solution proposals.
The Swedish Big Science Forum 2026 also provided a framework for B2B meetings and numerous exchanges in the exhibition area, allowing Swedish Big Science industry representatives to gain deeper insight into the IFMIF-DONES project. These interactions contribute significantly to strengthening the international projection and positioning of IFMIF-DONES, while expanding its network of industrial and technological partners across Europe.
