IFMIF-DONES seminar: a facility for the radiation of fusion materials

The Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering of the University of Granada has organised for December 15 a seminar on IFMIF-DONES: a facility for the radiation of fusion materials. The speakers of the seminar, which will take place at Fuentenueva Campus, will be Jorge Maestre, Claudio Torregrosa and Santiago Becerril, members of the IFMIF-DONES Technical Office.

From an engineering perspective, the speakers will analyse the challenges in the development of materials capable of withstanding strong thermo-mechanical and radiation stress in the walls of the fusion energy reactor. This is where the phenomenon of fusion of hydrogen isotopes in plasma at very high temperatures (millions of Celsius degrees) is produced.

Speakers

Jorge Maestre is Doctor in Industrial Engineering by the Rovira i Virgili University. He has worked at the CERN particle accelerator in Geneva as mechanics engineer and is now involved in the design of review of the lithium and target systems of the future radiation power plant for fusion materials at the IFMIF-DONES Technical Office at the University of Granada. Claudio Torregreosa is Doctor in Industrial Engineering by and is currently nuclear engineer at IFMIF-DONES. He was part of the engineering department at CERN for eight years. Santiago Becerril is industrial engineer andhas been involved during his twenty years of professional experience in the fields of high added value engineering research and development.
