The IFMIF-DONES España Consortium took part in the 16th International Particle Accelerator Conference (IPAC’25), held in Taipei (Taiwan), one of the most important global events in the field of particle accelerators.
Two IFMIF-DONES engineers, Jorge Maestre and María Luque, shared the latest advancements of the Spanish project with the international scientific community. María Luque presented a poster on the radiation shielding strategy for the main building, while Jorge Maestre is scheduled to present tomorrow on the engineering design of the IFMIF-DONES lithium target system.
Held from June 1 to 6, IPAC brought together experts from leading international laboratories such as CERN, SNS, ESS, J-PARC, ALBA, and of course, DONES.
During their visit, Maestre and Luque also toured the Taiwan Photon Source, one of the largest photon accelerator facilities in the world—larger even than the ALBA synchrotron in Barcelona. This facility supports cutting-edge applications in micrometric biology, X-ray tomography, medical research, and many other innovative fields.
