IFMIF-DONES “humanises” artificial intelligence

Our Deputy Director, Moisés Weber, has spoken at Andalusia’s 1st Artificial Intelligence Congress, held on 22 and 23 November at the Palacio de Congresos de Granada.

During his conference, entitled “IFMIF-DONES, in your image and likeness”, he presented the strategy of IFMIF-DONES in artificial intelligence. He was accompanied by the robot dog Spoty and the virtual assistant Raúl, on loan from the company PLAIN CONCEPTS for the event. Between the three of them, they explained that at IFMIF-DONES “we don’t want people thinking like machines, but machines thinking like people.”

IFMIF-DONES actively participates in the robust ecosystem created in Granada around AI, with various initiatives. One of them is Valeria, a laboratory that is developing virtual models of the large scientific infrastructure located in Escúzar (Granada), the IFMIF-DONES Control Laboratory at the UGR that works on process simulation and the NEURON-DONES and DONES-FLUX projects, funded by CDTI and in which 14 national companies, including several from Granada and other parts of Andalusia, are developing AI-based technologies for what will be the largest scientific-technological infrastructure in Spain.
The Congress, organized by the Digital Agency of Andalusia, was attended by more than 2,000 registered participants, 170 international experts and the presence of the world’s largest technology companies in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

“This congress is a great reference for Andalusia to become a digital hub and especially for Granada to become the digital hub of Artificial Intelligence,” said Antonio Sanz, Minister of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Andalusian Regional Government.
