“Fusion Energy. An Energy Revolution Underway. From Scientific Breakthrough to Industrial Deployment” is the title of the latest report published by the Bankinter Innovation Foundation.

The document stems from the Fusion Energy Forum held last June, where Ángel Ibarra, Director of the IFMIF-DONES Spain Consortium, took part in a panel of international experts.

The report highlights IFMIF-DONES as one of five global milestones driving the take-off of fusion energy and paving the way for its commercial deployment.

“The key is not just whether a material can withstand radiation, but whether it can last the full operating cycle. That is the qualitative leap that will tell us what is viable and what is not,” says Ángel Ibarra in the report. “One machine is not enough: several IFMIF-DONES-type facilities will be needed worldwide to gather all the necessary data,” he adds.
