IFMIF-DONES Consortium will distribute a handbook about accelerator physics at the Book Fair in Granada

How do accelerators work? What is a particle beam? How are particles accelerated? These are some of the questions addressed in the handbook ‘La física de los aceleradores a través de la física de la vida cotidiana y del Universo’, edited by CIEMAT and which the University of Granada will hand out at its stand in the Book Fair in Granada between October 1 and 10.

Written by Phu Anh Phi Nghiem, expert in accelerator physics at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), the book describes in simple terms the physical phenomena that take place in particle accelerators, which also occur in daily objects in different natural manifestations, as well as in the Universe.

The book reviews the history of accelerators, related to the discoveries in nuclear and particle physics. It briefly presents the disciplines that use accelerators and their location, and it covers accelerated particle physics and related electromagnetic forces.
