“Leading society toward a sustainable future” was the theme of the 38th National Conference on Chemical Engineering, organised by the University of Granada from July 9 to 11. José Aguilar, PMO Leader at IFMIF-DONES, took part in the roundtable discussion “Energy and the Future: Chemical Engineering in the Energy Economy.”
The event brought together professionals, academics, and students from the sector to discuss and share progress in the field of chemical engineering. Key topics at this year’s edition included innovations and trends in the development of sustainable materials; advances in techniques aimed at minimising environmental impact; use of Artificial Intelligence tools to optimise processes and outcomes; methods for measuring the effectiveness of sustainable industry practices; solutions for energy transition and efficient waste management and the link between advances in chemical engineering and improved quality of life.
