IFMIF-DONES presents at COP29

COP29 has been an excellent opportunity to present the IFMIF-DONES project to the international community and its importance in developing fusion as a future energy source. An energy that will help to take care of our planet.

Our PMO Leader, José Aguilar Medina, participated in two ITER stand activities. In the first one, under the name ‘IFMIF-DONES Overview’, he gave a general presentation of the project, explaining what it is and its role in the development of fusion. He also presented the work’s current status and the DONES Programme’s governance scheme.

Afterwards, Aguilar participated in the panel discussion ‘International cooperation: a tool to accelerate the commercial deployment of fusion’.

Moderated by Luo Delong (ITER), the panel was completed by Sehila M. González de Vicente (CAFT), Anders C. Wulff (Subra), Gale Hauck (OAK Ridge National Laboratory) and Andrew Smith (American Nuclear Society).

On the 15th, fusion energy continued to take centre stage with the panel discussion ‘Fusion 3.0: how AI and high-performance cloud computing can accelerate fusion deployment’.

One of the speakers was Erik Fernández Escudero (INEUSTAR – Spanish Scientific Industry Association).

From IFMIF-DONES, we thank ITER and CAFT for collaborating in our COP29.
