IFMIF-DONES Programme organised a Workshop on Accelerator Support Components (ASA), bringing together experts from the DONES Programme and Fusion for Energy, including both internal and external collaborators.

The workshop, held on 15 September at CITAI (Escúzar, Spain), aimed to review the status and maturity of accelerator support component design, analyse interfaces with the accelerator, plant, and control systems, assess key risks and opportunities, and coordinate stakeholders on commissioning needs and future activities.

The event brought together more than 30 participants, both on-site and remotely, and featured 11 technical presentations on topics such as auxiliary systems design, system integration, interfaces, commissioning strategy, planning, and lessons learned from ITER.

Over eight hours of technical exchange, participants shared knowledge and discussed solutions to support the successful development of DONES accelerator support components. The workshop placed particular emphasis on strengthening cooperation between the DONES Programme and F4E teams, leveraging experience from large-scale fusion projects and identifying key actions for the next phases of design and implementation.

The workshop concluded with a review of agreed actions, responsibilities and future coordination activities, confirming the strong commitment of all participants to the success of the IFMIF-DONES Programme.
