Granada hosts an international workshop on training for Big Scientific Organisations

The Carmen de la Victoria at the University of Granada hosted on 13 November 2025 the international workshop “Training for and with Major Scientific Organisations: Establishing a Big Science Masterclass Programme”, an event that will also be held in hybrid format (on-site and online).

The workshop addressed the challenge of how to better prepare the next generation to work in and with large scientific organizations such as Fusion for Energy, CERN, IFMIF-DONES, CTAO, ENEA, and CDTI—a key issue for the future of European science.

The aim of the meeting was to strengthen training and cooperation strategies among universities, research centers, and major scientific infrastructures, as well as to analyze the new career paths emerging in the international Big Science ecosystem.

The opening lecture was given by Leonardo Biagioni (Fusion for Energy-F4E). The program also included a thematic session on establishing a series of Big Science masterclasses, as well as a roundtable discussion on training needs and career opportunities in the sector.

The workshop featured speakers representing leading institutions, including Fusion for Energy, the University of Trieste, CERN, the University of Genoa, IFMIF-DONES, CTAO, ENEA, CDTI, and the University of Granada, among others.
