IFMIF-DONES advances in permitting process with the regional Government of Andalusia

On 10 September, the first working meeting was held between representatives of the Industry and Mining Service Unit of the Territorial Delegation in Granada of the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Safety team of IFMIF-DONES, designated to coordinate the permitting and authorisation processes required for the development of the infrastructure.

This meeting marks an important milestone in the administrative and regulatory preparation phase of the project, establishing a direct channel of collaboration between the regional administration and the technical team responsible for the facility’s safety.

During the meeting, the IFMIF-DONES team presented an overview of the upcoming experiments and installations planned, along with their timeline, in order to facilitate proper assessment by the competent authority. Key regulatory requirements, documentation needs, and procedures related to obtaining licences and authorisations were also discussed.

The meeting also laid the groundwork for ongoing coordination between both parties, which is essential to ensure that the commissioning of the different systems and activities of the project is carried out in accordance with the highest safety standards and full regulatory compliance.

In this context, collaboration with the Regional Government of Andalusia is crucial to support the development of IFMIF-DONES at all stages, ensuring a structured and safe implementation aligned with current legislation.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to maintain close and continuous cooperation in the coming months, with the aim of efficiently advancing the authorisation processes and facilitating the future commissioning of the project’s facilities.
