Last Friday, 26 June, the third Procurement Arrangement (PA) of the DONES Programme was signed, corresponding to the Test Cell, one of the most relevant systems of the future IFMIF-DONES facility.
The agreement was signed by Moisés Weber, Director of the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium, and witnessed by Philippe Cara, DONES Programme Manager, thus formally marking the official start of this Spanish contribution to the Programme.
The Test Cell will host the material irradiation experiments designed to reproduce the extreme conditions that future fusion reactors will face. This system represents the core element of IFMIF-DONES and will be essential for validating the materials required for the development of fusion energy.
This third Procurement Arrangement follows the two initial agreements signed last November for the MEBT and HEBT accelerator systems, continuing progress in the construction of the main technological systems of IFMIF-DONES.
With this signature, Spain continues to deliver on its commitments as host country and main contributor to the DONES Programme.
