DONES Xcitech School 2026 successfully concludes

The 4th DONES Xcitech School, organised by IFMIF-DONES and the University of Granada, with the collaboration of the Industry Office, has successfully concluded. From June 8 to 12, more than 70 participants, experts, and speakers from countries including Spain, Croatia, the United States, Ireland, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, and Morocco gathered at the Palacio de Quinta Alegre (Granada) to share knowledge, experiences, and new opportunities for collaboration in the fields of large scientific infrastructures, artificial intelligence, and fusion technologies.

The school featured representatives from leading international institutions and organisations, including CERN, Fusion for Energy (F4E), IFMIF-DONES, CIEMAT, CATF, CDTI, CTAO, as well as universities, research centres, and technology companies. Thanks to the support of our collaborators and sponsors, several scholarships were awarded, enabling students and young professionals from various countries to participate.

This year’s edition included specialised training in artificial intelligence for science and engineering, fusion energy technologies, and the European Big Science Masterclass, which brought together representatives from major European scientific infrastructures to discuss training and talent development.

In addition to the scientific and technical sessions, participants had the opportunity to visit IFMIF-DONES, exchange experiences with professionals from different sectors, and strengthen an increasingly committed international community focused on advancing Big Science in Europe.

The images accompanying this publication capture some of the highlights of an intense week of training, discussion, and international collaboration.

Many thanks to all participants, speakers, sponsors, and collaborators who made this edition possible.
