A group of around 40 members from the Official College of Industrial Technical Engineers of Granada (COGITI Granada) visited the IFMIF-DONES project facilities on 6 November, one of Europe’s major pillars in fusion energy research.

During the visit, José Aguilar, Head of the DONES Programme Management Office, guided the attendees through the centre, explaining the current status of the project, its scientific and technological goals, and the industrial opportunities emerging around its development.

The visit included a tour of the UGR-DONES research centre, where participants were introduced to several of the technological prototypes being developed as part of the innovation ecosystem surrounding the project. Attendees had the opportunity to see firsthand how engineering and science converge in this ambitious international effort to advance the development of a clean and sustainable energy source based on fusion power.

The event also served to strengthen ties between the local professional community and one of Europe’s most significant scientific projects, reinforcing Granada’s role as a strategic hub in advanced research.
