The ‘Women in DONES’ are multiplying

The ‘Women in DONES’ (WiD) collective is extremely active. Periodically, the scientists, engineers and researchers who make up the group are very active. Despite the difficulty of working in work centers located in different locations, the WiDs coordinate to maximize their presence in multiple events. In May, they organized a face-to-face meeting in Granada to share information on the different areas of work they develop.
The group is growing steadily. In the last edition of Xcitech School, directed by Blanca Biel and held in Croatia, they added new members among the students attending.
Scientific dissemination is always among their priorities, either in our own facilities, such as the talks given by Aida Padial for educational centers; or in cultural events such as the Granada Book Fair, where Celia Carvajal gave a lecture.
But WiD goes further: María Luque is a regular runner who participates representing IFMIF-DONES in many popular competitions, such as the Granada Half Marathon. In the race organized by the Hospital La Inmaculada she won the bronze medal in the women’s category.
Music is another of the WiD’s weaknesses, as they already demonstrated in the video clip they released to celebrate the Day of the Woman and the Girl Scientist. For this reason, many of them regularly attend concerts, as Inma Molina and Pilar Gil did to enjoy the Pixies.
