The director of the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium, Ángel Ibarra, took part today in the conference ‘Towards the National Strategy on Nuclear Fusion’, organised by CDTI, CIEMAT and Ineustar. During his participation, Ibarra explained the status and perspectives of IFMIF-DONES.

The session, held in Madrid in hybrid format, aimed to establish the basis of the process to determine the national strategy and priorities in the current field of nuclear fusion, organising and aligning the national ecosystem around it.

The race for a future commercial fusion reactor has already started worldwide. Both at international and European level, initiatives proposing different fusion concepts and mobilising private investment are flourishing. The new scenario calls for an adequate positioning of Spanish industry and public centres.
