Green light for the design and construction Framework Agreement for IFMIF-DONES main buildings

On 5 March 2026, the Quinta Alegre Palace in Granada hosted the Kick-off Meeting (KoM) of the Framework Agreement for the Design and Construction Services (AMDO) of the IFMIF-DONES scientific-technological infrastructure. This milestone marks the official start of a new and decisive phase in the development of the project, paving the way for the materialisation of the future research facility.

Visit of QST and Fusion for Energy to IFMIF-DONES

IFMIF-DONES received a visit on February 3rd from a delegation of QST (National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology, Japan) and Fusion for Energy (F4E) as part of a technical working session focused on monitoring project progress, coordinating activities between DONES and LIPAc, and strengthening technical collaboration.

‘Women in DONES’ interviews… Kristina Tomić

Kristina Tomić, who works at the Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI), was interviewed by Women in DONES. The RBI is Croatia's official implementing agency for the DONES project. Together with the Institute of Physics and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, it forms part of the DONES.HR consortium, which is working intensively on Croatia's contribution to sustainable fusion energy.

A scientific research optimizes the neutron irradiation of materials in IFMIF-DONES

IFMIF-DONES continues to consolidate its role as a key facility for the development of future fusion energy. Its ability to reproduce the effects of neutron radiation on advanced materials is essential for qualifying components for next-generation fusion reactors.

Different groups continue to visit our facilities in Escúzar

New educational and professional groups have continued to visit our facilities in Escúzar. These include Almuñecar International School, the Official College of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects of Granada, the Master's Program in Chemical Engineering at the University of Granada, Novaschool, CEIGE, IES Alhamar, IES Padre Suárez, IES Poveda, and Colegio Cristo de la Yedra.

Interview with Esther López

Esther López (Granada, 1985) is a civil engineer specialising in roads, canals, and ports. She holds a Master's degree in International Leadership from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and the Rafael del Pin Foundation and Ferrovial, and an MBA from IE Business School. After a solid international career, she is currently a Senior Project Manager at IFMIF-DONES.
