Their Majesties, the King and Queen of Spain, and the President of the Republic of Croatia chaired the session of the Croatian-Spanish IFMIF-DONES Forum, which took place on 17 November in Zagreb (Croatia). This event served as a stage for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Governments of Spain and Croatia. This document establishes the conditions for collaboration between the two countries in the project to construct the research infrastructure 'International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility -Demo Oriented Neutron Source' (IFMIF-DONES).

First meeting of the TAC of IFMIF-DONES España

The first meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee of the IFMIF-DONES España Consortium (better known as TAC) took place on 13 October. The TAC aims to serve as an advisory board to the IFMIF-DONES Spain Consortium in making technical decisions critical to its strategic objectives.

IFMIF-DONES España starts recruitment of scientific, technical and administrative staff

The IFMIF-DONES España Consortium has published its first calls for employment. The open selective processes are included in a total of three calls for employment. One of them includes five permanent contracts and the other two positions for permanent staff in the modality of scientific-technical activities. These two calls are completed with a third one which includes a pre-doctoral contract for the development of a thesis on aspects related to IFMIF-DONES.

The CSN supervises progress on the IFMIF-DONES project in Granada

The Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) has held a meeting of its liaison committee at the headquarters of the IFMIF-DONES Spain consortium in Granada to review the progress made in the permanent working group maintained by the regulator, the consortium, the Centre for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT) and the University of Granada. The meeting reviewed the progress made within the working group in recent months and discussed the latest developments in the project.

Interview with Antonio Moreno, engineer at IFMIF-DONES

The solid international background of Antonio Moreno Cortés (Churriana de la Vega, Granada, 1988) is matched by the enthusiasm shared by the entire IFMIF-DONES team. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Granada, and for a decade he worked in the UK, where he has now obtained specific certifications in project management and engineering.
